Create Google Sheets®-powered Workbook in CloudCulate Designer

To create a Google Sheets®-powered Workbook, simply navigate to the Create Workbooks screen and click "Add New".

Simply provide a name & description. After naming and describing the workbook, you'll need to grant access for CloudCulate to be able to access your Google Sheets®. Those steps are detailed below and are also available as inline-help in our Designer.

Once you've done it once, it's pretty familiar for the next time. After you've completed all steps, the Google Sheets® is ready to be used in any subsequent REST Service(s) you may create.

How To Get Your Google® Authentication CFG File and Spreadsheet ID

Once you've done it once, it's pretty familiar for the next time. If you already have Steps 1-3 completed, skip those (simply use your existing config file that you previously downloaded from Google) and perform Steps 4 and 5. If you haven't setup Google Sheets® API access before, don't worry, the following screenshots walk you through step-by-step.
Click the "Enable the Google Sheets® API" button to create a new Cloud Platform project and automatically enable the Google Sheets® API. In resulting dialog click DOWNLOAD CLIENT CONFIGURATION and save the file credentials.json to your device.
Step 1 a: Provide a meaningful name
Step 1 b: Choose "Desktop App" and click the "Create" button
Step 1 c: Save the credentials file to your device. This file contains sensitive information. You should store this in a secure area or delete it from your device once you're done with this process.
Navigate to Manage Credentials and Fill in Account Details
Step 2 a: Grant Service Account Permissions. Select "Service Account User" and click the "Create" button
Step 2 b: Leave Step 2 alone, just click the "Next" button. Leave Step 3 alone, just click the "Done" button.
Step 3: Get Service Account Key & Email Address
Click to manage your newly-created Service Account.
Step 3a: Click to create a new key for this account, select JSON and save the credentials file to your device. You'll use this file in the Create/Edit Workbook process, and CloudCulate always encrypts these files. This file contains sensitive information. You should store this in a secure area or delete it from your device once you're done with this process.
Step 3b: Copy the service account user’s email address, shown below:
Step 4: Share Google Sheet® with Service Account Email Address
Navigate to the Google Sheet® you want to share, and click the "Share" button. Enter the Service Account Email Address and assign it "Editor" permissions. Click the "Send" button.
Step 5: Get Your Google Sheets® Spreadsheet ID
Once you have your Spreadsheet ID and your downloaded CFG file from Step 3a, you're all set to create a Workbook based off of Google Sheets®.
Navigate to the Google Sheet® you want to use and copy the value from the URL in your browser window, from between "https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/" to the next "/" For example, if this is the full URL, https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-abc1232d45f333/edit#gid=0 Only take this part 1-abc1232d45f333. You'll paste this value into the "*Google Spreadsheet® ID" field in Create/Edit Workbook.
